Hello! My name is Alice Lee, an undergraduate working towards a BS in the Biological Sciences. I have a strong interest in the potential applications of AI in biological research and understanding the genetic components of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. I'm also passionate about sharing that curiosity with my peers, encouraging the pursuit of research for experience in collaborations, presentations, and even contributions to a publication. I am currently a research assistant in the Chen Lab, utilizing multidisciplinary approaches such as biostatistics and sequencing to investigate unique molecular markers in psychiatric and comorbid disorders. I hope to one day use the skills I've learned at UNLV, both in the classroom and thelab, in medicine to make an impactful difference for patients. At the same time, I wish to create opportunities for others to be able to engage in the research field of their interest. Please feel free to contact me if you have any research-related questions!

Hi, I’m Maggie Louie, and it’s a pleasure to continue serving in AED as a co-chair for the research committee. Some of my hobbies include photography, volleyball, and binge-watching shows. As I plan on going to medical school, I think it’s important to be able to ask big and complex questions not just within healthcare, but also about the world around us. My passion in research initially stemmed in trying to understand and eventually find solutions for environmental issues, and I hope to use my lab experience to connect these problems to medicine. My goal is to help spread awareness about prevalent health issues and concerns through the discussion and use of research. Please feel free to reach out if you are interested too! :)

Hey everyone, I’m Dominic Nguyen and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as an officer for the research committee! I will be going into my third year for my bachelor’s in Biochemistry and minor in Neuroscience while pursuing medical school. Surgery piques my curiosity, but I have not decided on a specialty or focus. My motto going into AED is going full throttle on the experiences we will encounter and showing grace to the very people that will learn from these experiences. Some of my musical interests are Ado, Eve, and WIM. Playing video games, binging playthroughs, or going outside to do something on a whim is where I enjoy spontaneity in life. I wanna make sure you guys are open to the opportunities in disguise and help expose your true vocation. Please contact me if anything comes to mind!

Hi! My name is Nicolas Keshishian, and I am pursuing a BS in biological sciences here at UNLV. I am extremely excited to help spark interest in research among all my fellow AED members. I currently work as an undergraduate research assistant in the Tseng Lab here on campus. The main bug that I work with is Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen that greatly hinders the quality of life for humans with cystic fibrosis. I lead my own funded project and help other graduate students with their projects to study a wide range of topics regarding our bacteria. I love working alongside others who are passionate and vibrant; that’s why I love working in research, and I hope to help you guys experience that too!
